Maryland's six casinos brings $65.2 million despite revenue decline

(Maryland).- A total of $155,150,298 in gaming revenue from slot machines and table games during February 2025, was reported from the six Maryland's casinos.

Despite the high revenues by by $4,076,380, the casinos contributions represents a 2.6 percent decrease comparing to February 2024. 

The state received $65,225,418 in casino contributions for the month, reflecting a 3.8 percent decline from the same period last year. Of that total, $47,094,585 was allocated to the Maryland Education Trust Fund, a decrease of 3.7 percent compared to February 2024. Additional funds from gaming revenues were directed toward local communities, the state’s horse racing industry, and programs supporting small, minority- and women-owned businesses.

MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County led casino earnings, bringing in $66,921,826, which was slightly higher than the previous year by 0.1 percent. Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County followed with $57,006,888, reflecting a 3.9 percent decline from February 2024. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore saw a 5.8 percent decrease in revenue, reporting $14,082,816. Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County generated $7,145,410, down 3.5 percent from last year. Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County reported $6,108,732, a 3.9 percent decline from February 2024. Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County had the largest drop among the state’s casinos, recording $3,884,625, a 10.5 percent decrease.

Casino gaming in Maryland continues to be a significant revenue generator, providing financial support for education, economic development, and community initiatives. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency oversees the industry, ensuring regulatory compliance and managing the allocation of gaming revenues.

The overall decline in casino revenue aligns with broader economic trends affecting gaming and entertainment spending. The state’s monthly revenue reports track these fluctuations, offering insight into the financial contributions of Maryland’s gaming industry.

The next revenue report will provide updated figures for March 2025. More details on each casino’s earnings and their contributions to the state are available through the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
